The Cars were a rock band from the United States formed in Boston in 1976. The band members included Ric Ocasek (vocals, rhythm guitar), Benjamin Orr (vocals, bass), Elliot Easton (guitar), Greg Hawkes (keyboards), and David Robinson (drums). They were pioneers of new wave and early catalysts of power pop. Their first album "The Cars" was released in 1978 and included hits like "Just What I Needed" and "My Best Friend’s Girl." Their music combined rock guitars with distinctive electronic sounds and catchy refrains. The Cars initially disbanded in 1988 but reunited in 2010. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
