The Fine Art Of Surfacing by The Boomtown Rats
About the album The Fine Art Of Surfacing
The Boomtown Rats will spend the period from November 1978 to February 1979 in Hilversum, a town in the Netherlands where they will record their third studio album. The ten songs that will be prepared will form the album The Fine Art Of Surfacing, which will be released in October 1979.
The Fine Art Of Surfacing is a new wave album, with evident pop extensions. Significant work has been done by producers Mutt Lange and Phil Wainman. The album, thanks to its first single, the timeless I Don't Like Mondays, which refers to the unpleasant events at Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego, California, on January 29, 1979, enjoyed great success. The album's two other singles are Diamond Smiles and Someone's Looking At You.
This particular album stands at the top of all the records of the Irish Boomtown Rats. The Fine Art Of Surfacing reached No.7 in the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, there was not the same recognition on the other side of the Atlantic, where it reached No.73.
