About the album Shake Your Money Maker
Mr. Crowe's Garden from Atlanta, Georgia in 1989 change their name to The Black Crowes and the following year, in 1990, their first album is ready titled Shake Your Money Maker. Their sound will remind many that southern rock did not end in the 1970s, but there is a new generation of artists in the southern United States who continue the tradition.
The Hard To Handle will immediately make the Black Crowes known and a big part of the album's success will be due to the blues rock cover they will present of Otis Redding's 1968 song Hard To Handle, which will play the role of the second single of Shake Your Money Maker. Moreover, the very title of their debut draws its name from a classic blues song by Elmore James from 1961. In every way, the Black Crowes try to show their connection to the blues past of the wider area where they were born and raised. The album was produced by George Drakoulias.
The album has exceeded 5,000,000 copies in sales and is the most successful album by the Black Crowes.
