About the album Adventure

The album Adventure by Television, released in April 1978 by Elektra Records, is the "sophisticated" follow-up to the legendary Marquee Moon. Although it is often overshadowed by their debut, it is considered one of the most influential records of art-punk and new wave.

The recording of the album took place in New York, at Soundmixers and Record Plant studios. The production is softer and less aggressive and is co-signed by Tom Verlaine and John Jansen. In contrast to the "raw" sound of the first record, Adventure adopts a richer and multilayered approach. Piano and keyboards (by Verlaine) were added, and more reverb was used on the drums, giving a more dreamy and atmospheric result. Almost all the songs are written by Tom Verlaine. The exception is the track Days, co-written with guitarist Richard Lloyd. Verlaine's lyrics maintain their surreal and poetic character, but here they become more "singable" and less enigmatic.

In Britain, it achieved great success, entering the Top-10, while in the U.S., despite better sales than the first album, it did not manage to enter the charts.
