Sonic Temple by The Cult
About the album Sonic Temple
The Cult had the album ready in demo form since 1988. They waited for the Canadian producer Bob Rock, who brought them to Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver, Canada, to record the official version of the album. Thus, in early 1989, the fourth studio album of the British hard rockers was ready and was one of their best. Sonic Temple was released on April 10, 1989.
The record has a "very tight hard rock sound" that captivates the listener from the first song, while here one can find two of the band's greatest hits, Fire Woman and Edie (Ciao Baby). The songs are compositions of the duo Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy. The latter changes his guitar type on Sonic Temple, as he was enchanted by the possibilities of the Les Paul, with which he is photographed and immortalized on the album cover.
Sonic Temple has gone platinum in the U.S. and gold in England. Its sales in the U.S. have exceeded 1,000,000 copies, reaching No.10 on the Billboard, the best position The Cult ever achieved in the U.S.
