About the album The Last Meal
At the end of 2000, Snoop Dogg released his fifth studio album titled The Last Meal, which is a typical west coast hip hop and gangsta rap album. The interesting part is where the title came from. According to Snoop Dogg himself, the title is a clear statement to Priority Records that it is “the last meal” that the white owners of the company would eat from him, as he would not collaborate with them again, thereby ending their financial exploitation of him.
Snoop Dogg has the cream of the West Coast hip hop scene of that time by his side. Among many others, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Kokane, and Timbaland compose, sing with him, or produce the songs.
In its first week of release, the album sold 397,000 copies in the United States and reached No. 6 on the Billboard chart. The Last Meal has now surpassed 2,000,000 copies in sales in the U.S., and 100,000 more copies have been sold in Britain.
