Screamin' The Blues by Screamin' Jay Hawkins
About the album Screamin' The Blues
The album Screamin' the Blues by Screamin' Jay Hawkins is a collection that was originally released in 1979 by the Red Lightnin' label.
The album gathers recordings from different periods of Hawkins' career, covering the time before and after his big hit I Put A Spell On You. It includes tracks recorded in New York in 1953 (such as Not Anymore and Baptize Me In Wine) and in 1954. It also contains tracks from the 1960s and early 1970s, including his cover of Paul McCartney's Monkberry Moon Delight.
The album did not feature prominently—unsurprisingly—in charts, but it is an excellent example of "wild and rough" rhythm 'n' blues recordings from the 1950s to the mid-1970s.
