Here, Run DMC followed the known song creation formula: beats, compilation of riffs and melodies from other songs, relentless rap, and endless scratches on the turntable (!)

Tougher Than Leather completed a legendary quartet of hip-hop albums from the 1980s as from then on, Run DMC would not be able to return in the future with an album that would have the same impact as any of their four albums. Papa Crazy and Mary Mary will stand out from this record. Apart from the group's members, Rick Rubin was also involved in the production of Tougher Than Leather.
