RUN D.M.C.

Group
RUN D.M.C. was one of the most iconic hip-hop groups of the 1980s. The founders of the group were Joseph "Run" Simmons, Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels, and DJ Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell. The group was founded in 1983 in Queens, New York, and played a crucial role in the global popularity of hip-hop music. They were among the first to bring hip-hop into the mainstream, combining urban elements with rock sounds, as seen in the successful cover of the song "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith. RUN D.M.C. was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 and is considered a pioneer of the genre.
