Deuce by Rory Gallagher
About the album Deuce
Rory Gallagher, enchanted by his live performances either with Taste or with his own band, wanted to capture the feeling of live recording in the second album of his solo career, Deuce, which was released in 1971.
To achieve this feeling, the songs were recorded at Tangerine Studios in London without much editing and production. The band played, and the recording was done directly. Accompanying Gallagher in this effort were Gerry McAvoy on bass and Wilgar Campbell on percussions and drums. The producer of the album was Rory Gallagher himself.
Deuce and the ten compositions it contains, when first released, went almost unnoticed, reaching only No. 39 in Great Britain. However, as the creator's legend grew over the years, the album came to contribute something to the glory and grandeur of this blues rock musician and was re-evaluated as a work.
