About the album Blueprint

In 1973, the year of the release of his third studio album, Blueprint, Rory Gallagher was nearing twenty-five, and his experience now allowed him to take his compositions to another level. Thus, that is exactly what Blueprint is, a pure blues rock album that elevates Gallagher's career one (or more steps) higher.

An important role in the change heard by the listener in Blueprint was played by Gallagher's decision to add a fourth member to his band, keyboardist and guitarist Lou Martin, while Rod de'Ath took the place behind the drums. Noteworthy is that Rory Gallagher, for the recording needs of Blueprint, played – besides guitar – mandolin, harmonica, and saxophone. Songs like Daughter Of The Everglades and Seventh Son Of The Seventh Son played a significant role in establishing the Irish creator. The title and cover of the album were derived from the blueprint of a Stramp brand guitar amplifier, which was specifically built in Hamburg for Rory Gallagher.

Blueprint reached No. 12 in Great Britain and its sales there made it gold.
