...And Out Come The Wolves by Rancid
About the album ...And Out Come The Wolves
The album ...And Out Come the Wolves from 1995 is considered the most iconic album of Rancid and one of the cornerstones of the punk revival in the '90s. The production was signed by Jerry Finn along with the band, while the mixing was done by Andy Wallace. It was Rancid's third studio release.
The recordings of the album's songs took place at Fantasy Studios (California) and the legendary Electric Lady Studios in New York. The title of the album derives from a poem by Jim Carroll and refers to the "war" of record companies trying to pull them away from the independent Epitaph Records. The album masterfully combines aggressive punk rock with strong elements of ska and reggae. The compositions stand out for their catchy melodies, "gang vocals," and Matt Freeman's intense bass.
With landmark singles like Ruby Soho, Time Bomb, and Roots Radicals, the album achieved enormous commercial success, reaching No.45 on the Billboard. It went gold in 1996 and platinum in 2004, confirming its timeless value in the contemporary alternative music scene.
