Animal Boy by Ramones
About the album Animal Boy
Animal Boy was the ninth studio album by the Ramones. It was recorded in December 1985 and January 1986, produced by Jean Beauvoir, who also played guitar and keyboards. The album was released in May 1986.
The completion of the album took place amidst tensions among the members of the band. Joey Ramone felt uninspired to write during that period and was under excessive pressure. Johnny Ramone was an additional source of pressure for Joey. From Animal Boy, the singles that stood out were Somebody Put Something In My Drink, which was also promoted with a video clip, and My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down (Bonzo Goes To Bitburg), which was a political commentary on the then President of the U.S., Ronald Reagan, something the Ramones did not usually do by mixing politics with their songs.
Animal Boy eventually reached No. 143 on the Billboard and No. 38 in the United Kingdom, once again confirming that the Ramones' work had more appeal beyond the United States.
