About the album Apocalypse 91... The Enemy Strikes Black
The fourth album by Public Enemy will come in 1991 titled Apocalypse 91... The Enemy Strikes Black and will complete an incredible quartet of hip hop records recorded by the crew from New York within five years. The last song that closes the album is Bring The Noise which was included in the second Public Enemy album, but here we hear it in a re-performance along with thrashers Anthrax. It was a collaboration that was heavily discussed at that time.
Their lyrics are sharp and at the heart of every topic they tackle, which is the dramatic situation in the black ghettos. The title of the album is a combination of the titles of two movies: Francis Ford Coppola’s "Apocalypse Now" and Irvin Kershner’s "The Empire Strikes Back."
In the USA, it reached No.4 on the Billboard and sold 1,000,000 copies.
