About the album Seven Churches

At the age of 16, Jeff Becerra and Larry Lalonde compose and record Seven Churches, an album released in 1985. In their attempt to play faster than any other thrash metal band in the Bay Area of California, Possessed presents a sound unlike anything heard before.

The album begins with The Exorcist, and its composers include Mike Oldfield (!) as a small part of his Tubular Bells composition was used in the introduction of the Possessed song. The last song of the album is called Death Metal.

According to most music critics in the heavy metal scene, the album is the one that takes fast, wild, and aggressive music by the hand and leads it to the threshold of death metal. Today it is considered the beginning and the first record of this genre. Randy Burns was the producer of Seven Churches.
