Possessed is an American death metal band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1983. They are widely regarded as one of the first bands of this genre and have played a significant role in shaping the death metal sound. The band released the groundbreaking album "Seven Churches" in 1985, which includes some of the most classic compositions of the genre. With their distinctive sound, Possessed made a decisive contribution to the evolution of extreme metal music, influencing countless artists and bands. The singer and bassist, Jeff Becerra, is the only constant member of the band since its inception. Although the band has gone through periods of disbandment and lineup changes, it remains active on the music scene, continuing to satisfy its fans worldwide.
