Peter Gabriel 4 by Peter Gabriel
About the album Peter Gabriel 4
In 1982, Peter Gabriel returns with his fourth album, and following the tradition he started with his first album, the title here is also Peter Gabriel. This time, the cover is created by Malcolm Poynter, who distorts Gabriel's face through mirrors and lighting. The fourth album is also known as "Security".
Peter Gabriel is personally involved in the production of his album, but at a certain point, he collaborated with David Lord. Thus, the production is credited to both. Gabriel records eight of his compositions, some of which are characterized by experimentation. The lyrics he writes also address a wide range of topics, from the violent expansion of Whites on the American continent to political prisoners in Latin American countries. The album was also recorded in the German language and was titled Deutsches Album.
The album's sales reached 100,000 in the United Kingdom, while in the United States, it went gold with sales of around 500,000 copies. With this album, Peter Gabriel completed the first period of his solo career.
