About the album Peter Gabriel 3

Peter Gabriel's collaboration with producer Steve Lillywhite led to the creation of the artist's third album, which again was titled with his name. This time, the Hipgnosis design team created a portrait of Peter Gabriel, which depicted his face melting. Due to this, the third album is also known as "melt".

Steve Lillywhite gave Peter Gabriel's compositions a heavy dose of post-punk aesthetic. Beyond that, it's noteworthy who Gabriel gathered around him to create - perhaps - the best album of his career. He had with him Phil Collins on drums, Robert Fripp, Paul Weller, and David Rhodes on guitars, John Giblin on bass, and Kate Bush on vocals (!). With all these people, it would be paradoxical not to have songs like Biko, Games Without Frontiers, or I Don't Remember born.

The album reached the top of the Top-10 in Britain, while in the United States it reached No. 22, a significant position as it marked the beginning of Peter Gabriel's recognition on the other side of the Atlantic.
