Peter Gabriel 2 by Peter Gabriel
About the album Peter Gabriel 2
Peter Gabriel, immediately after completing the promotional tour of his debut in November 1977, enters the studio and begins new recordings that will lead to the creation of his second solo album, once again titled with the artist's name. However, due to the cover, the album has become known as "scratch". The cover is a work by the design team Hipgnosis. The album was released in June 1978.
The production of the album was done by Robert Fripp of King Crimson, who co-wrote the song Exposure with Gabriel. The artist chose Fripp for the production over Bob Ezrin, who was the producer of his first album, because the former was more spontaneous in his work, something Peter Gabriel preferred at that time. It would take about thirty years for Gabriel to work with Ezrin again. Tony Levin offers his talent on the bass for most of the songs, while Roy Bittan of the E-Street Band can be heard on the keyboards.
The album reached No. 10 in the United Kingdom, while the French pushed it to No. 2 on their charts.
