The Masterplan by Oasis
About the album The Masterplan
In late 1998, Oasis released The Masterplan, which mainly contains B-sides of singles that had been released up to that point, singles originating from their first three albums and from the single Whatever. The Masterplan "overflows" with britpop songs and at the end of the day gives you the feeling that it could be another official Oasis album and not a compilation.
The original thought was to release The Masterplan only in the US and Japanese markets because in these two countries the specific songs were available on very expensive singles imported from Europe. Eventually, The Masterplan was released worldwide and had a very big impact.
It reached No. 2 in the United Kingdom and sold 100,000 copies in Japan, becoming gold. Its worldwide sales have reached 1,150,000 copies. In 2023, an anniversary edition was released for the 25 years since its first release and it managed to reach No. 2 in the UK again.
