Definitely Maybe by Oasis
About the album Definitely Maybe
And so, an entire music movement acquires its "Gospel." We are talking about britpop in the mid-90s and the debut of Oasis, Definitely Maybe, which was released on August 29, 1994. In reality, everything happened because of the huge success of the single Live Forever. Oasis had formed in Manchester in 1991 under the name Rain, and after various efforts, they attracted the interest of Creation Records, which trusted them, resulting in the creation of another legendary album in the English pop/rock music scene.
At the time of its release, many considered the optimistic atmosphere prevailing in Definitely Maybe as Britain's response to the negativity emanating from the U.S. and grunge. Oasis combined their childhood and teenage musical influences with the alternative music trend of their time and created what would become the debut with the most massive record sales in Britain (2,700,000 copies). The first song they recorded was Shakermaker in February 1993.
Definitely Maybe has surpassed 5,000,000 copies in sales and is one of the most important albums of the '90s.
