About the album Hair Of The Dog

The Scottish band Nazareth, with Dan McCafferty's distinctive voice, return in 1975 with their sixth studio album, called Hair Of The Dog. The production will be handled by Manny Charlton, with whom the collaboration will continue due to the album's great success.

The initial intention of Nazareth was to name the album Son Of A Bitch, but their record company prevented them for obvious reasons at that time. The album contains very tight hard rock compositions, while the big surprise and success of the album comes at the end and is none other than the cover of the Everly Brothers' Love Hurts, which elevated the album, and for a moment, Nazareth's career. The song Hair Of The Dog was one of the covers by Guns 'n' Roses on the 1993 album The Spaghetti Incident?.

At the time of its release, Hair Of The Dog reached No. 17 in the U.S. (the highest they achieved on the Billboard chart) and managed to sell over 1,000,000 copies there. Proportionally, a similar response to the album was seen in Canada, where it sold 100,000 copies.
