Nacha Pop by Nacha Pop
About the album Nacha Pop
The eponymous debut album of Nacha Pop, released in September 1980 by Hispavox, is one of the most important pillars of the Movida Madrileña, the cultural movement that flourished in Spain after Franco's dictatorship.
The album moves in the space of power pop and new wave, with strong influences from the British scene of the time. It combines the energy of rock with melodic lines and poetic lyrics, mainly by Antonio Vega. The album's producer was Teddy Bautista, who also played keyboards in the recording. The song Chica de Ayer - the album's great success - was written by Antonio Vega while he was serving his military service on the Malva-rosa beach in Valencia.
Nacha Pop is considered a classic album today, as it ranks among the best albums of its year. The band Nacha Pop managed with this record to bridge the gap between the underground punk scene and commercial pop-rock, offering a more refined yet authentic sound.
