Tubular Bells III by Mike Oldfield
About the album Tubular Bells III
Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells III was released in 1998 and is the third part of the famous series, marking the 25th anniversary of the original work. The recording of the album began in December 1996 and lasted until June 1998. The musical style of the record is heavily influenced by Oldfield's life in Ibiza, where he was living at the time. It combines traditional orchestral structure with house, techno, and ambient elements.
Unlike the previous two albums, which had two major parts, Tubular Bells III consists of eleven distinct tracks, although it maintains a continuous flow. To record his work, the artist used samples from his earlier works, such as the drums from Moonlight Shadow and Shadow On The Wall. The iconic "bells" in this album were mostly samples and not always natural instruments. Man In The Rain was the first single. The song's vocals were provided by Cara Dillon, and the song was another version of Moonlight Shadow.
Tubular Bells III reached No. 4 on the UK charts. The reviews it received were not the best possible. The album premiered with a spectacular concert at Horse Guards Parade in London in 1998.
