The Millennium Bell by Mike Oldfield
About the album The Millennium Bell
The Millennium Bell is Mike Oldfield's twentieth solo album, which was released in November 1999 (just before the dawn of the new millennium) by Warner Music. The album is a conceptual homage to the dawn of the third millennium. Its purpose was to serve as a musical journey through human history over the past 2,000 years, with each track representing a different historical period or event.
Most of the album was recorded at Mike Oldfield's personal studio, Roughwood Studios in Buckinghamshire. The orchestral parts were recorded in just one day at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, with the participation of the London Session Orchestra. Mike Oldfield undertook the compositions, production, and most instruments (guitars, keyboards), but was accompanied by many artists.
The album was presented live in a grand concert in Berlin on New Year's Eve of 2000, in front of approximately 500,000 spectators.
