The Australian band Midnight Oil, with their seventh studio album titled Blue Sky Mining, win in their homeland the award for best group, best video clip, and best album of the year. The 1990 Blue Sky Mining continues from where Diesel And Dust left off as its natural evolution.
The album was recorded between June and September of 1990. Here, too, we have Warne Livesey in production, who collaborates with the band and manages to infuse the songs with everything Midnight Oil want to express through them.
Blue Sky Mining made notable sales. Beyond the 350,000 copies in Australia, it reached 300,000 in France, while in the USA it went gold with the 500,000 copies sold.
