About the album Diesel And Dust
The Australian Peter Garrett (singer-songwriter) and his band Midnight Oil, after five albums, will release their sixth album titled Diesel And Dust in 1987 (in the U.S. it was released the following year). Diesel And Dust was a thematic work that dealt with the way Australian governments treated the indigenous people of Australia, as well as the ecological-environmental issues that had arisen in the contemporary world of the time.
Musically, the album moves in the realm of alternative rock with very good compositions and a very careful production by Warne Livesey. This album made the whole world seek out Midnight Oil. To be honest, it was Beds Are Burning as a single that attracted attention. The success and enthusiasm for the album was so great that even the cover of Diesel And Dust won the award for the best cover in 1987.
From time to time, Diesel And Dust is voted as the best rock album in Australia. Its sales have now reached 3,000,000 worldwide and - unsurprisingly - it reached the top of the success charts in its country, Australia.
