Wandering Spirit by Mick Jagger
About the album Wandering Spirit
In 1993, Mick Jagger celebrates his fiftieth birthday and gifts us his best personal album, Wandering Spirit, wanting to prove to us that half a century of life does not discourage him; quite the opposite. He collaborates with Rick Rubin on the production, and the result is something remarkably fresh and interesting. Mick Jagger seems to want to make a retrospective of every genre of music that played a crucial role in his career. Everything is here, rhythm 'n' blues, folk, country, soul, funk, and rock, presented in a contemporary yet balanced way.
Among the distinguished guests who accompanied him during the creation of his third album, notable are Billy Preston on piano and organ, Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers on bass, Courtney Pine on saxophone, and Lenny Kravitz on vocals in the masterful cover of Bill Withers' Use Me.
The recordings took place from February to December 1992. When Wandering Spirit was released in early 1993, it managed to reach No. 12 in the UK and No. 11 in the US, and its sales have approached 1,000,000 worldwide.
