About the album Them

Them from 1988 is the third discographic offering of King Diamond. The musical style of the album belongs firmly to the realm of 1980s heavy metal with many passages-outbursts that advance into the subgenre of speed metal. King Diamond had significant help from Andy LaRocque, the Swedish musician and guitarist, who has been a consistent collaborator with King Diamond throughout the years.

Kim Bendix Petersen, or otherwise King Diamond, composes a concept album that will be thematically completed in the next record. The horror story he creates involves King Diamond's grandmother, who, due to some mental illness, "lives" in another world beyond reality. This strange world is known to the young King as he visits her with his mother in her peculiar house, which is full of secrets.

Them as an album is now considered a classic-legendary record in the heavy metal field. At the time of its release, it enjoyed significant success primarily in Europe and more specifically in the Scandinavian countries.
