About the album Straight Out The Jungle

The hip hop trio Jungle Brothers was formed in New York in 1987. The following year, their debut titled Straight Out The Jungle was ready. This particular album is considered one of the first in the hip hop subgenre known as progressive/alternative rap.

Straight Out The Jungle is based on a minimal production supported mainly by jazz and soul samples, which allow the lyrics to come to the forefront. The subjects they touch on range from relationships between the sexes to racism, while overflowing with their caustic and ironic style, something characteristic of all the groups that emerged from the musical hip hop movement that went down in history as "Native Tongues."

The album Straight Out The Jungle was not a huge commercial success with high chart positions and sales. It is one of those albums that dare to pave new paths, which others would follow a little later. Its most successful single was I'll House You, which indeed differed in style from the rest of the album as it was a fusion of house and hip hop.
