About the album Done By The Forces Of Nature
The Jungle Brothers continue their Afrocentric approach to hip hop music with their second album, released in November 1989 and titled Done By The Forces Of Nature.
The same formula is followed as with their debut. House music, or rather more house music than on the first album, drum 'n' bass samples, jazz and funk samples, and lyrics that bring to light everyday stories of the African American community of New York and beyond. The compositions of the album belong to the Jungle Brothers, except for Doin' Our Own Dang, in which the trio collaborates with De La Soul, Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, and Monie Love. All of them were part of the "Native Tongues" musical movement of New York.
The fate of the album was to become known primarily in underground dance circles and frequenters of nightclubs. In hindsight, it is considered and is one of the most influential dance and hip hop albums of the late 1980s.
