The moment the British Gang Of Four from Leeds record and release their first album titled Entertainment!, the Punk movement in Great Britain has come to an end, and the post-punk era has just begun. Entertainment! belongs to this moment, precisely to this generation. While the compositions rely on gritty guitars, on the other hand, the album features rhythms the band has borrowed from reggae and funk.

The songs of Gang Of Four and their lyrics reflect their leftist political positions, and this, obviously in a Britain that had just chosen the ultra-conservative Margaret Thatcher as its prime minister, would not have had much resonance.

Nevertheless, the album managed to reach No. 45 in Great Britain. Today it is considered - and obviously is - a small masterpiece of the post-punk music movement.
