About the album The Score
The Fugees were a short-lived hip hop group from New Jersey, USA. The Score of 1996 was their second and last album, with which they achieved success in the USA and the rest of the world. The musical signature of the album was based on alternative hip hop elements. Its success was so massive that it was nominated as one of the albums of the year to win the Grammy for Album of the Year.
The success of The Score began with the failure of their debut Blunted On Reality in 1994, as their label trusted them and despite the commercial failure of their first effort, they were funded with $135,000. The group purchased modern equipment and converted the basement of Wyclef Jean's uncle's house into a studio and got to work.
In a short period of time, The Score reached No. 1 on the charts in almost half of the European countries and of course at the top of the Billboard. The album's journey to the top was greatly aided by the single Killing Me Softly, highlighted by Lauryn Hill's voice. The album's sales are estimated at 22,000,000 copies worldwide.
