Foreigner by Foreigner
About the album Foreigner
Foreigner were formed in New York in 1976, and in the same year, between April and November, they recorded their first album, which was released in March 1977 and was titled with the band's name. The album was released by Atlantic Records, and they certainly played a role in promoting the album in the United States market.
From their very first album, the band showed the musical direction they wanted to take. The foundation of the compositions is, of course, rock, but there are all those elements of soft rock or pop music that would catapult their career in the following years and lead them to fill entire stadiums in their live performances. From their debut, "Feels Like The First Time" and "Cold As Ice" stood out as hits. The main composer of the album's songs is guitarist Mick Jones, who is behind every song on the album, with some assistance in certain compositions from singer Lou Gramm.
The Foreigner album reached No. 4 on the Billboard chart, while its sales in the U.S. soon reached 5,000,000 copies, placing this particular album among the most commercially successful debuts of all time. Foreigner had managed to capture what the broader American rock audience wanted to hear just before the end of the 1970s.
