About the album Agent Provocateur
Obviously, Foreigner in the mid-1980s was one of those bands that enjoyed both successful commercial releases and packed stadiums at their concerts. Thus, the 1984 Agent Provocateur was something that simply continued the trajectory of the American-British band, whose focus was always the large market of the United States.
Foreigner had been preparing the album for nine months from October 1983. Agent Provocateur would be released at the end of 1984, and its singles That Was Yesterday and I Want To Know What Love Is would dominate for the rest of the 1980s and beyond. The producers of the record were two, Mick Jones (guitar, keyboards, composition) of Foreigner and the later tragically lost Alex Sadkin.
Although the reviews were not in favor of Agent Provocateur, presumably because of the polishing of the band's sound, which was clearly aimed at conquering FM radio, the album reached No. 1 in the UK and No. 4 in the U.S., having sold over 3,000,000 copies there alone.
