About the album Eric Clapton
Eric Clapton, after going through various bands in the second half of the 1960s, released his first solo album in August 1970, titled with his own name. The choice of such a simple title is not at all accidental as the 25-year-old Eric is well aware of the weight his name carries. The album's recordings took place in London and Los Angeles between November 1969 and March 1970.
Eric Clapton is an album full of blues rock compositions, most of which are signed by Clapton and his guitarist, Delaney Bramlett, who also acts as the album's producer. The album's big hit was, however, After Midnight, a song written by a then completely unknown JJ Cale, who had released it as a single in 1966 (!) The next single from the album was Blues Power, which also became one of Eric Clapton’s most characteristic songs. The song was composed by Clapton in collaboration with the album's pianist Leon Russell. Of course, here you will also hear another classic Clapton song, Let It Rain.
The album's success was remarkable on both sides of the Atlantic. Eric Clapton reached No. 14 in Britain and No. 13 in the United States.
