About the album Backless
After the great success of the Slowhand album, Eric Clapton attempts to replicate the triumph once more with Backless in 1978.
Thus, Clapton records ten songs that move between rock and blues rock. Some of these are his own compositions (Watch Out For Lucy), but they are covers of other artists (I'll Make Love To You Anytime by JJ Cale or Tulsa Time by Don Williams) and he does not hesitate to even present American traditional songs such as Early In The Morning. The first single of the album was Promises. Roll It is performed by Marcella Detroit, who co-wrote Lay Down Sally with Clapton. Glyn Johns was the producer of the album.
Backless reached No.18 in the United Kingdom and No.8 on the Billboard, while it was also successful in Canada as it reached No.6 and became a gold album selling over 100,000 copies.
