About the album 461 Ocean Boulevard
The second personal album for Eric Clapton will come after four years from his first one as Clapton will spend three years undergoing heroin rehabilitation. During this period, he fell into inactivity until at some point he started listening to some old blues records. Thus, he developed the desire to record again, and this is how 461 Ocean Boulevard of 1974 came into existence.
The album's title was nothing more than the address of the house in Miami, Florida, where Clapton stayed while recording at Criteria studios. After the album's success, the address was changed so that Eric Clapton's fans and album enthusiasts couldn't find it. The songs were a collection of Clapton's own compositions, covers, and traditional songs orchestrated by Eric Clapton. The biggest hit was the cover of I Shot The Sheriff, which became the album's first single.
This particular album was the one that put Eric Clapton back in the game. It sold over 2,000,000 copies worldwide and reached as high as No.1 in the USA, No.3 in the United Kingdom, and was particularly successful in many other countries.
