About the album The Marshall Mathers LP

The Marshall Mathers LP is the third album by rapper Eminem. It is the album that affirms that Marshall Bruce Mathers III is here to stay and write his own page in the book of hip hop music. In The Marshall Mathers LP there are compositions that Eminem himself has written, having alongside him some other top producers of the hip hop scene of that period, Dr. Dre, Mel-Man, and Mark Howard James were present during the recording of the album.

Eminem was accused of promoting misogyny and homophobia through the lyrics of some of his songs. In reality, Eminem wanted to create an album that referred to his unexpected and massive rise to fame and success, while at the same time his alienation from groups that wanted him close was unfolding.

The Marshall Mathers LP won the Grammy award for Album of the Year. The album sold 1,780,000 copies during its first week of release in the United States of America. After one month of its release, the album had sold 3,650,000 copies in the U.S. (!) The total global sales of The Marshall Mathers LP have exceeded 32,000,000 copies (!)
