Imperial Bedroom by Elvis Costello
About the album Imperial Bedroom
In 1982, Elvis Costello releases the seventh studio album of his career. The artist from London once again has the Attractions band by his side. The album’s production is handled by Geoff Emerick, who had previously collaborated with the Beatles and manages to convey the spirit of the mid-'60s. The album is titled Imperial Bedroom and musically it is an interesting combination of new wave, baroque pop, and art rock.
The overwhelming majority of the album's compositions are by Elvis Costello. Two singles emerged from the album, You Little Fool and Man Out Of Time. The album cover was created by English visual artist Barney Bubbles and is titled "Snakecharmer & Reclining Octopus," drawing inspiration from Pablo Picasso's 1921 work "Three Musicians."
With this album, Elvis Costello achieves considerable success in the charts of the United Kingdom, as well as the United States. Imperial Bedroom reached No. 6 in Costello’s homeland and No. 30 in the U.S.
