About the album Trying To Burn The Sun

The legendary blues rock band Elf released their third and final album in 1975, titled Trying To Burn The Sun. The album is an excellent example and mix of blues, hard rock, and boogie rock.

The American band Elf was in England in January and February of 1975, recording their album in London. Ronnie James Dio's group offered their band fans, as well as hard rock fans, eight songs composed by Dio and keyboardist Mickey Lee Soule. The album was produced by Roger Glover.

Trying To Burn The Sun did not become a major success, and thus all the Elf members decided to join Ritchie Blackmore, who invited them to accompany him in his new career that had just begun following his departure from Deep Purple. Very soon and without second thoughts, Elf ceased to exist and transformed into Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, and in March 1975, they recorded the first Rainbow album.
