About the album Hotel California
Between March and October 1976 in Miami and Los Angeles, the Eagles prepared the album that was destined to elevate their career to unimaginable heights, Hotel California, which won the Grammy for Album of the Year.
The iconic cover is a photograph taken by photographer David Alexander at the request of Don Henley, who wanted to depict the Hotel California. The hotel in the photograph is The Beverly Hills Hotel. The massive success of Hotel California both as an album and as a song happened, according to Don Henley, because the word "California" has ingrained itself in people's consciousness and minds as the fulfillment of the "American Dream," which during the mid-70s was beginning to fade. The entire album spoke precisely about this change.
The album's sales have reached 32,000,000 worldwide. Hotel California lost the Grammy for Album of the Year to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours.
