About the album Hard Attack

Listening to songs like Thusly Spoken or I Been Thinkin' from the second album by the New York City band Dust makes it hard to believe that on drums is Marc Steven Bell, who is Marky Ramone, the drummer of the Ramones from 1978 (!) The title of the record is Hard Attack and it consists of a combination of hard rock, blues rock, progressive rock, as well as lighter moments, such as the two aforementioned songs.

In 1972, Dust presented their second album and shortly thereafter disbanded. Hard Attack was recorded at Bell Sound Studios in New York, and almost all the songs are compositions by Richie Wise and Kenny Kerner.

Hard Attack remains a landmark album for the music world of heavy metal, a world that was just being born at that time, and certainly albums like Hard Attack greatly helped to shape it.
