About the album Sacred Heart
In 1985, the third album of Dio came with the title Sacred Heart. What overshadowed its creation and recording was Ronnie James Dio's divorce from his wife and manager Wendy Dio. This affected Dio mentally to a great extent and caused conflicts between him and guitarist Vivian Campbell, who left the band dissatisfied after the album was completed.
Musically, Dio - in Sacred Heart - insists on the heavy sound they had offered in their two previous albums, although you can slightly hear here and there the influence of glam metal, which was beginning to surge at that time. From this album, the songs Rock 'n' Roll Children and Hungry For Heaven stood out as singles, becoming over the years some of the band's classic songs.
Sacred Heart managed to achieve 500,000 sales in the USA, something that did not happen again for a studio album by Dio. It reached No. 29 in the USA and No. 4 in the United Kingdom.
