Black Sunday by Cypress Hill
About the album Black Sunday
Black Sunday was the album that catapulted the Californians Cypress Hill to the top of the hip hop world and beyond. The second album by Cypress Hill was recorded between February 1992 and April 1993. Its official release took place in July 1993, while Insane In The Brain, which had been released as the first single a month before the album, paved the way for Black Sunday to sell 261,000 copies in the U.S. during its first week of release and to reach No. 1 on the Billboard.
Black Sunday is one of the top Latin hip hop albums of all time. The trio of B-Real (vocals), Sen Dog (vocals), and DJ Muggs (sound production) created a landmark album in the history of hip hop music by incorporating elements that did not exist in that culture until then.
Its success in the U.S. was so massive that it made Cypress Hill achieve something unprecedented in the hip hop world. They managed to have both their albums in the Billboard Top-10 in the same week. The album's sales in the United States have reached the number of 4,000,000 (!)
