About the album Goodbye
The British band Cream says goodbye - as is evident from the album cover and title - to their music friends with Goodbye. Goodbye was released in February 1969, three months after the official announcement of the group's breakup. The musical style of the album balances between psychedelic rock, blues rock, and the emerging hard rock.
Goodbye is a hybrid album consisting of six songs. Three of them are live recordings and three are studio performances of new songs. The live recorded songs come from the band's performance at The Forum in Los Angeles on October 19, 1968, the farewell appearance of Cream. Goodbye begins with the cover of Skip James' I'm So Glad from 1931 (!), and there's also a cover of Sitting On Top Of The World by Mississippi Sheiks from 1930 (!). The second side includes Badge, which is a composition by Eric Clapton and George Harrison, one of Cream's most well-crafted songs, which served as the promotional single for the album.
The album reached No. 1 in Great Britain and No. 2 in the USA, where it managed to become gold due to the 500,000 copies it sold there.
