About the album Disraeli Gears
Disraeli Gears was the second studio album by the British band Cream, released in 1967. The recordings took place in Atlantic's studio in New York under time pressure as the members' visas were expiring. The album was recorded in four days - from May 11 to May 15, 1967 - as the next day the band had to leave for England out of necessity.
Cream adopted a harder sound without abandoning psychedelic rock. Moreover, the characteristic riff of Sunshine Of Your Love played a decisive role in what was later called heavy metal. All three members worked equally on the song compositions, and the performances of the songs are equally shared. The album's producer was Felix Pappalardi (later a member of Mountain). Australian Martin Sharp, with the album cover he created, wanted to convey the musical atmosphere of the album. He probably succeeded.
The album was a commercial success of the times as it reached No. 4 in the U.S., selling 1,000,000 copies. In their homeland, England, Cream saw their second recording work go gold and reach No. 5.
