About the album Western Stars
In 2019, Bruce Springsteen continues his collaboration with producer Ron Aniello on his nineteenth album titled Western Stars, an album with a much softer, more relaxed sound than what Springsteen has accustomed us to. The electric guitars are limited, and the album's sound leans towards soft rock, with a strong presence of folk rock mood. The American songwriter does not use the E-Street Band but many session musicians. Impressively, Springsteen collaborates once again with keyboardist David Sancious, a collaboration that hadn't occurred since 1992 on the album Human Touch. David Sancious was one of the founding members of the E-Street Band and recorded with them until the Born To Run album in 1975.
The creator of the album himself has stated that when he was writing the songs for Western Stars, he had in mind the songs of "Southern California pop music" from the '70s. It is an album without particular outbursts, an album that Bruce Springsteen at seventy can support and highlight. The first single from the album was Hello Sunshine, which was released two months before the album's official release. Western Stars is one of the few albums by Bruce Springsteen that was not promoted with a tour.
Western Stars reached No. 2 on the Billboard and No. 1 in the United Kingdom. Its total global sales have reached 270,000 copies.
