About the album Born To Run
Bruce Springsteen, accompanied by the E-Street Band, Mike Appel, and Jon Landau in production, creates and presents in 1975 an epic work called Born To Run.
Through its eight compositions, one can hear everything that existed during the – then – last 20 years in rock ‘n’ roll, soul, rock, and rhythm ‘n’ blues, while lyrically each song is a small story, which could easily serve as a basis for a movie script. The iconic cover was one of the nine hundred photographs taken by photographer Eric Meola in his studio on June 20, 1975. Bruce Springsteen had brought along his saxophonist, Clarence Clemons, for company. Thus, he also appeared on the cover or rather on the back cover of Born to Run.
In the U.S. alone, it has sold over 7,000,000 copies. Born To Run was the album that made Springsteen and his songs known to every young American of the working and middle class in the mid-1970s, who were trying to maintain their dreams of a better future in an America wounded by the Vietnam War and an America that was plagued by the Watergate scandal.
