About the album Nashville Skyline
When an album begins with a duet between Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, what can go wrong with this record? Probably nothing (!) In his 1969 Nashville Skyline, Bob Dylan dives into country music and builds his stories with the musical background of the music loved by a vast part of his fellow countrymen, who are not familiar with the "noise" of the electric guitar.
Nashville Skyline, his ninth album, is one of Bob Dylan's sweetest, most sensitive, and romantic records. The production is done by Bob Johnston once again. Besides Johnny Cash, there are other distinguished guests who help Dylan accomplish this little masterpiece. Bob Wootton on guitar, Pete Drake, and Charlie Daniels on bass. All of them are genuine sons of the Southern United States. The album is also known for its cover, which shows a smiling Bob Dylan. The photograph was taken by Elliott Landy. The hat that Dylan is wearing was his own last-minute idea, just like the idea to take the shot from below upwards.
The album went on to sell 1,000,000 copies in the United States and another 100,000 in Great Britain. Nashville Skyline reached No. 3 on the Billboard.
